Man Kills Brother Over Soup

The
police in Benin have arrested a 57-year-old man, Sunday Osemwekhe, for
allegedly killing his half-brother with machete over a local soup called
owoh.
The suspect reportedly committed the crime at Evboesi community in Orhionmwon Local Government area of the state.
The
incident happened during an argument with the victim over owoh soup, a
local a delicacy for eating yam, plantain and wheat peculiar to the
people of Edo State.
Osemwekhe, who confessed to the
crime when he was paraded with 80 other suspects by the Edo State
Commissioner of Police, Mr. Foluso Adebanjo, said the deceased took from
his owoh soup without his permission.
The argument reportedly degenerated into fracas, following which he cut off the victim’s hand with a machete.
The victim allegedly died a few days after from injuries he sustained from the attack.
Adebanjo disclosed that the suspect would be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation.
